Analysis of Organic Fertilizer Application Rate in Agricultural Production

1. Determine the organic fertilizer application rate based on soil conditions. Soil conditions dictate the nutrient supply capacity and fertilizer demand. When the soil’s nutrient supply capacity is insufficient or the soil nutrients are imbalanced, the application rate of organic fertilizer should be appropriately increased. For example, for soil types such as saline-alkali soil, sandy soil, and clay soil, the application rate of organic fertilizer should be increased appropriately to improve soil fertility. Meanwhile, in cases of soil nutrient imbalance, the application rate of organic fertilizer should also be adjusted appropriately to meet the crop’s demand for different nutrients.

2. Determine the organic fertilizer application rate based on crop growth needs. Different crops have varying growth requirements, leading to differences in their nutrient demand quantity and types. For certain cash crops with high fertilizer requirements, the application rate of organic fertilizer can be appropriately increased to meet their growth needs. Additionally, during the critical growth periods of crops, the application rate of organic fertilizer should also be increased appropriately to enhance the crop’s stress resistance and yield.

3. Determine the application rate based on the quality and source of organic fertilizer. Organic fertilizers from different quality grades and sources vary in nutrient content and effectiveness; therefore, adjustments are needed based on actual conditions during application. When selecting organic fertilizers, priority should be given to commercial organic fertilizers that have undergone processing, feature stable quality, high nutrient content, and are pollution-free. This ensures fertilization effectiveness and the healthy growth of crops. Meanwhile, when using farmyard manure, it is necessary to ensure it is pollution-free and harmless, and has undergone sufficient decomposition to improve nutrient effectiveness.

4. Determine the application rate based on environmental and climatic conditions. Environmental and climatic conditions also affect crop growth and nutrient demand. In arid and semi-arid regions, due to insufficient water supply, the application rate of organic fertilizer should be appropriately increased to improve the soil’s water retention capacity and nutrient supply capacity. Additionally, under abnormal climate change conditions, the application rate of organic fertilizer needs to be adjusted based on actual circumstances to meet the crop’s growth needs.
